Job Summary
The Hygiene and Sanitation Specialist provides guidance on hygiene and sanitation standards across food manufacturing sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal protocols. This role oversees cleanliness of all areas within the manufacturing facility, collaborating with various teams to recommend improvements that ensure optimal hygiene and sanitation practices for safe food production.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation standards are met across the entire food manufacturing site, including equipment, facilities, and personnel practices.
- Perform routine checks to confirm compliance with cleaning and sanitation protocols, addressing deficiencies as needed.
- Work closely with various teams to recommend improvements for optimal hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new systems or processes aimed at enhancing hygiene.
- Oversee the implementation and adherence to cleaning and sanitation programs throughout the facility, evaluating effectiveness and recommending changes.
- Advise teams on best practices for hygiene and sanitation in food manufacturing.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal protocols.
- Monitor the performance of hygiene and sanitation programs, tracking trends and identifying areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on hygiene performance for senior management.
- Develop and update training materials and programs to ensure staff are properly trained on hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation is properly integrated with other operational systems (e.g., production lines).
- Conduct comprehensive audits, maintain detailed records of inspections and corrective actions, and collaborate for continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- Educational Background: Graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, or any related fields.
- Work Experience:
- At least three (3) years of experience in hygiene, sanitation, or quality assurance roles, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Direct experience in overseeing and implementing sanitation protocols across manufacturing sites.
- Familiarity with regulations governing sanitation and hygiene in food manufacturing, such as the Food Safety Act of 2013.
- Working knowledge of quality and food safety management systems, such as HACCP, ISO 9001, and ISO 22000.
- Experience in conducting hygiene audits and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Advanced experience in the Food Manufacturing and Food Safety industry is a strong advantage.
