Job summary:
Initiates and implements food quality analysis, safety, and control of Straight Speciality Fats and Oils products from material preparation to storage and distribution of finished products based on the quality plan.
What You’ll Do:
- Initiate and implement food quality analysis, safety, and control of Straight Specialty Fats and Oils products.
- Conduct testing of Fats and Oil samples for Fatty Acid Composition (Normalization and Wyeth Method).
- Conduct sensory tests, physicochemical analyses, and other evaluations required to release work-in-process materials and semi-finished bulk, accurately and on time.
- Ensure that laboratory equipment/instruments and test reagents are calibrated and have the correct concentration before use for accuracy of test results.
- Maintain neat and legibly written analysis records, following rules on correcting errors.
- Analyze/evaluate and release finished goods samples that are within specifications.
- Recommend disposition or corrective action on non-conforming in-process materials.
- Evaluate and analyze new product, miscellaneous samples (with Request for Analysis), and non-conforming products, reporting test results to the QA Section Lead (FAO).
- Evaluate and put on “Hold” and retest any semi-processed batch not conforming to quality specifications, reporting to your superior for decision.
- Assist in updating laboratory procedures instructions.
- Assist in troubleshooting in-line deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Correctly record the sample identification and test results of Fats and Oils samples.
What We’re Looking For:
- Educational Background: Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
- Certifications: Preferably a Licensed Chemist or equivalent fields (BS Chemical Engineering/BS Food Technology) with Chemistry/Chemical Technician License.
- Academic Standing: With good scholastic standing.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of working experience in a manufacturing industry, with a focus on fats and oils is a strong advantage.
- Job Skills:
- Knowledgeable in quality and food safety standards.
- Proficient in laboratory analysis.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace applications.
- Proficient in oral and written communications.
