General Objective of the Job
The Product Development Chemist for the Prochem Division is responsible for executing all assigned activities related to new product development, regulatory compliance, product improvement, applications, and commercialization.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop cleaning chemical, household, and personal care products according to predetermined project lead times and sample submission schedules.
- Gather feedback from clients via Sales channels on the results of submitted samples.
- Conduct pilot trials, batch trials, and/or commercialization processes upon product approval.
- Spearhead all regulatory requirements, including inventory management, shelf-life studies, and regulatory notifications.
- Act as an authorized representative for various regulatory bodies, including the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), Islamic Da’wah Council of the Philippines (IDCP) HALAL, and Food and Drug Authority (FDA).
- Ensure finished product specifications are created and updated based on set requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers, purchasing buyers, production teams, and documentation teams to manage new, updated, and obsolete raw material specifications.
- Draft specification templates based on data from sample evaluation and retention samples for review.
- Stay abreast of the latest science, technology, and related fields for product development.
- Manage existing and new raw material and finished product databases.
- Create future research plans to meet patent requirements.
- Maintain orderliness of the working area and samples library.
- Participate in ideation and risk assessment meetings.
- Create and disseminate work instructions and Change Control Forms.
- Send weekly accomplishment reports to the Product Development Manager containing updates on key performance indicators (KPIs), projects, and critical issues encountered and resolved or pending actions.
- Uphold 5S principles in the working area.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
- Registered or with License is a must.
- Preferably with background or work experience in research and development related position.
- Knowledge and understanding of in regulatory requirements and protocols.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
