Job Summary
We are seeking a Packaging Specialist to design, test, and implement innovative packaging solutions, and continuously improve existing designs. This role oversees the entire packaging development process, troubleshoots issues, analyzes specifications, manages supplier relationships, and identifies cost-saving initiatives, all while ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability and meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Packaging Design & Improvement: Design, test, and implement new packaging designs, and review/improve existing ones as an integral part of product development.
- Development Oversight: Oversee the complete packaging development process, including design creation, prototype development, and performance testing.
- Troubleshooting & Analysis: Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems (design, materials, processes) and analyze engineering drawings/specifications to determine packaging requirements.
- Supplier Management: Establish standards for, evaluate, select, and periodically review packaging suppliers/vendors.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Design and Development Specialist, Production, Marketing, and Purchasing Departments.
- Cost Savings & Efficiency: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, transportation, and storage.
- Testing & Validation: Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs, and work with manufacturing to optimize designs for manufacturability.
- Reporting: Reports to the Design and Development Supervisor and works in conjunction with the Supply and Marketing department.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of Packaging Engineering Course.
- Experience: Relevant years of related work experience.
- Skills: Proficient in oral and written communication; Computer Proficient.
